The song opens with Jay-Z purposefully singing an off key version of that "goodbye" song (you'll know once you hear it).
Jay's approach to the song turns me off from fully enjoying it. Yes, autotune is rediculous and well overused but the way Jay-Z is rapping makes it seem like he is besting some empiric force that everyone cares a lot about.
Autotune is like a mighty phoenix that died with Cher and the early ninties and then was reborn with lil Kanyain and now is (dead?) again and will probably show up in another couple of years.
An extended version of "What You Need" by Priors surfaced on Discodust a couple weeks ago, then on Too Many Sebastians and now, if you for some reason missed it here's another chance.
The track is insanely catchy and I'm not sure what forces were at work, keeping me from posting on it.
Since"What You Need" has gained so much coverage, I also have another Priors single for you to try out called "Into the Fight"
"Into the Fight" is a brand new seven minute slow jam that I could picture hearing late at night on the vh1 classics channel or ending the credits to some cult 80s movie.
Some artists draw influences from the 80s but shy away from passionate vocals because they don't want to be criticized for living in the past.
Priors break the stereotype and sing their hearts out.
New remix by James Martin Nelson (aka Death to the Throne pictured above). This blogstar wonderboy has been tearing it up on the webcharts as well as clubs nationwide (living the dream and actually making a living off of live shows).
This newest mix is mindblowing as usual, taking the explosive Lykke Li v Rodeo version of "Knocked Up" and further injecting it with man juice.
