The Promo Post

So here comes the Promo Post, where I have an item of social relevance that I just purchased which is laid out on a beige carpet to have its picture taken.

This simple action has many advantageous outcomes:

a.) it gives the appearance that I buy all my music and am a TRUE supporter of the scene

b.) it shows that I'm just a normal person with beige carpeting which helps readers feel like they know me (look, there's my shadow in the pic!)

c.) it's possible that labels will see this post and send me a bunch of free stuff, which I can take more pics of

d.) you get to be that one guy in the comment thread who says "Well I, for one still buy music!"

------heres where I get serious----------

All that aside, I have to say the show tonight with French Horn Rebellion and Database was a lot of fun and I was happy to throw my five dollars their way. Hopefully someone will do the same for me If I ever get serious about making tunes.

Special thanks to Mr Hobbs for getting the guys out to the Ville.

Good Morning Good Night

Had a nice chat with the GMGN boys; always nice to get to know your artists personally. These kids are deep into the electro funk vibe as well as the DIY vibe.

"We basically decided to remix/mix one of our favorite George Duke tracks into a dancefloor killer for our live sets"

With crisp production value and digital nostalgic charm, I present to you "On My Mind", my new favorite dance anthem:

GIMME DAT EXTRA 2.8 MBS!

When this was first sent out, it came in a 112kbs package which is listenable, but I asked for a higher quality mp3 hoping to suck every bit of Doorly action out of this remix. Turns out they were nice enough to oblige.

As far as Dubstep, when you have so much of the same sound becoming popular, it's up to a few allstars to bring original sound to the genre (Doorly quickly becoming a leader in the pack).

"She Came Along" will be released on Oct. 5th through Data Records with a "rediculous set of remixes". I'm getting hype...

special thanks to the ministry for sending this out:

AA 24 7 Mark Lam Remix

This just in: Mark Lam sent over his mix of Dance Area's "AA 24 7". It's a fuzz fest of style and attitude that keeps things simple. It works just as well in the sunshine as it does in a dark lit club.

G.L.O.V.E.S - P.Y.X EP + New Shoes Remix

The P.Y.X EP was released August 5th through Bang Gang and I have to say its one of my favorite releases in the last couple months (which counts for something with the current pace of music consumption).

The two originals on the E.P are "P.Y.X", which is "a cut up party Prince-esque monster full of electric guitar solos, live bass guitar slaps and silky smooth pianos" (quoted from BG promo) and "Too Much To Dream" which is sopped in delicious late night eighties vogue (the image of someone dancing in an empty street at night comes to mind).

The release comes packaged with Golden Bug and Strip Steve mixes as well as a newcomer (at least to my ears) named Ben Browning who should not be overlooked:

After checking the Bang Gang twitter (so as not to pull another FB) I found that they're giving away an INTENSE gem of a track fo freeeee. It's a new remix of shoes. And it's good. It's Holy Shit (smash the repeat button) good.

John Roman - Martyr

'Martyr' sounds like a dust cloud clearing right before you're hit by some sort of huge beastly creature. It's made up of a solid buzz bass that will keep you moving while the melody fights for your attention.

This is John Roman's most solid effort and deserves to get played out.

Fake Blood - Fix Your Accent EP

Straight out of a seventies bollywood flick is my (and thus your) favorite single off of Fake Blood's 'Fix Your Accent' EP. Ripe with contagious synth trills, popping basslines and energetic vocal samples, 'I Think I Like It' is a blissful hit with class.

$ Fake Blood - I Think I Like It

My bad for not checking up on IamFakeBlood before posting. 'I Think I Like It' along with the rest of the 'Fix Your Accent' EP is due for release Sept. 1st on Cheap Thrills records.
