Au Revoir Simone vs Neon Indian

NN is quickly becoming a mirror site for all the glory that can be had over at Binary (all in the name of good promotion) I couldn't NOT pass this one your way:

What we have for you today is a collaboration composed of the coolest of the cool kids right now, Neon Indian and Au Revoir Simone.

The remix is a lofi dance pop anthem composed of fluttering flutes and warping arpeggiated synths that is sure to keep you happy in the long run.

Felix Cartal - Drone (complete with artwork by ikea)

With a simple kick drum and a swarming bass line, Felix Cartal crafts his latest symphony, "Drone". There's enough breathing room and melody in this intelligent banger to ensure its place as a staple in set lists worldwide.

What others have to say:

”Unique, well produced, and cutting edge. A breath of fresh air from the majority of ‘electro’ music being released right now.” - Wolfgang Gartner

“This track definitely brings a big vibe and good pay off. We’ll definitely be supporting this!” - Daniel Linton of LA Riots

“Drone is big!!!!! really gone off everytime i played it! breakdown is epic too!!” - Foamo

Felix plays a mean live set:
Sep 4 @ DANCEISM LOS ANGELES, California
Sep 5 @ SHAW CONFERENCE CENTRE EDMONTON, Alberta
Sep 12 @ THE PARAGON THEATRE HALIFAX, Nova Scotia
Sep 13 @ RITUAL NIGHTCLUB OTTAWA, Ontario
Sep 14 @ ELIXIR NIGHT CLUB KINGSTON, Ontario

Baxter + Lifelike

After exploring some new territory with my favorite new label, "Binary" I found this recently released gem.

I couldn't say it better than their own promo:

"this seems like a true return to form for Lifelike. I'm sure if you're banging out 2-3 remixes a month for all sorts of clients it takes its toll on an artists ability to stay creative and innovative, but here's an example of a great artist getting inspired and making just a great song."

more info on the songs meaning here

Keenhouse - Civic Transit

What are you supposed to do when you open up your inbox and Binary gives you this music. I had never heard Civic Transit; I had heard the name "Keenhouse" a few times in passing, probably referenced at Discodust or something

Might as well buy a "Life Is Good" tee.

The single was released last year (I'm upset I missed this one). It combines all of the purest elements of the decade we love, resulting in something that sounds like it'd be used in an educational video for kids.

Keyboard sax trills, warm synths and a froggy bass are supported by a simple beat that doesn't overwhelm the flow.

What makes this single new is that its release is acompanied by remixes from the upandcoming Anoraak (smooth & dreamy) and Fabian (punchy workout disco).

Thanks again Binary for making blogging so easy. I almost feel dirty for posting such quality songs at a quality bitrate for free but they said it was all good so here you go:

^no point ranking them, they're all stellar

The Promo Post

So here comes the Promo Post, where I have an item of social relevance that I just purchased which is laid out on a beige carpet to have its picture taken.

This simple action has many advantageous outcomes:

a.) it gives the appearance that I buy all my music and am a TRUE supporter of the scene

b.) it shows that I'm just a normal person with beige carpeting which helps readers feel like they know me (look, there's my shadow in the pic!)

c.) it's possible that labels will see this post and send me a bunch of free stuff, which I can take more pics of

d.) you get to be that one guy in the comment thread who says "Well I, for one still buy music!"

------heres where I get serious----------

All that aside, I have to say the show tonight with French Horn Rebellion and Database was a lot of fun and I was happy to throw my five dollars their way. Hopefully someone will do the same for me If I ever get serious about making tunes.

Special thanks to Mr Hobbs for getting the guys out to the Ville.

BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY!!!!

This song is crazy good:

Good Morning Good Night

Had a nice chat with the GMGN boys; always nice to get to know your artists personally. These kids are deep into the electro funk vibe as well as the DIY vibe.

"We basically decided to remix/mix one of our favorite George Duke tracks into a dancefloor killer for our live sets"

With crisp production value and digital nostalgic charm, I present to you "On My Mind", my new favorite dance anthem:
