Act Yo Age vs DCUP

Prove that you're the coolest kid in your hood when you drop the latest DCUP remix of Act Yo Age. You know the drill, DCUP is no stranger to NN. He puts out only ACE mixes and we love him for it. Not sure if it's the small room echo on the flute or what but this song reminds me of a Japanese garden for some reason. The only other song to have reminded me of a Japanese garden is the Hercules & Love Affair remix of Cut Copy's "Far Away".

Has anyone been in a Japanese Garden? whats it like? Would you listen to this if you were there?

Thanks Sweat It Out for another sweet free remix. I will always love you,

sincirely yours,
Joseph

Lady Gaga Joins the Warp Trend

Whether you're a lover or a hater of what the Beetroots are up to these days, you have to give them credit for starting this whole...not sure what to call it, "warp" noise trend. It'd be nice if her producer utilized the sound instead of completely ripping off Warp.

its not just Gaga though, Dada Life have a more tasteful interpretation

Osawa too

Seeing Gaga put this sound in her song means a couple things: blog dance continues to have a big impact on pop trends

AND

People will be more open to hearing warp (and other harder tracks) played on the dance floor instead of fleeing in fear thinking "WHAT IS THIS NOISE?!!!"

live chanting always makes me giddy. this looks like fun:

The set decoration for their show at I love Techno 2009 got me to thinkin, "what would it look like to have the Beetroots playing on a Covenant Battle Cruiser?":

Knightstalker - Narcotics (Valerna Remix)

Massive swirls that will have your head bobbing and the room spinning are paired with some intense bass tones to make of of the best Valerna remixes I've ever heard. Enjoy this one in your headphones before it storms the clubs.

Midnight Juggernauts vs Emperor Machine

New Midnight Juggernauts material continues to arrive in preparation for their next full length. This time instead of a video, Acephale sent out a couple remixes of the growing single, "This New Technology" (which will be featured on Kitsune Maison 8).

Among those mixing are Memory Tapes, Nine Delta and Juan Maclean as well as one of my favorite budding talents, Emperor Machine who recently released a full length album, "Space Beyong the Egg". Their take on "This New Technology" is a funky one that should not be missed; a very enjoyable spaced mix that lasts almost nine minutes.

ps. does Emperor Machine's band name, font and design remind anyone else of Stereolab?

Kitsune 8 Out Nov. 30th

When I was a youngster (before I had ever heard of music blogs) I searched the very small terrain of the American Itunes store for electronic music. With each new discovery, there was a familiar stamp of these gray toned faces quickly drawn and jumbled together forming a sort of memorable unity.

I later found out that the people responsible for this clever branding technique were a French clothing and music label Kitsune Maison.

I enjoyed most of the singles I found released from Kitsune and to this day I'm still confused as to who is signed to Kitsune and who is just one of their friends. It seems like everyone is signed to three or four labels these days.

If your like me then you have developed a respect for this label and know that their compilations are always something to get excited about.

The only complaint I would be that label compilations in general are usually composed of songs that you've already been hearing for a long time.

Instead of a play-by-play of each and every song on the mix (It's a very good mix), I'll say that "Lets Go Surfing", "High Together", "Star", and "I Love London" are the singles that I'm always going back to.

Kitsune 8 will be released November 30th and in anticipation for its release they are giving away the Harvard Bass remix of Beni's Maximus track. You've probably heard this in the clubs; its been massively played out this year. Can't say it's my favorite remix (the clicks, pops and bleeps along with vocals keep this mix from being a completely redundant banger) but it does sound very nice on the big speakers.

Also until Nov. 30th you can listen to JBAG's five and a half minute minimix. Who is JBAG? Is he more than an expert in layering multiple tracks in ableton?

So Good It Hurts

Not to back myself into a Dreamwave corner or anything (plenty of diverse sounds ahead) but this style has been putting out like a(n) ______<-- adj for 'dirty/slutty/easy" ______ <--- noun for girl/boy/preteen.

[Bit Funk] Ever since his flawless remix of Hustler's Anthem, I've been on the lookout for any new material from this producer. The new mix doesn't disappoint.

[Xuman] Never heard of this guy, but I'm very glad he showed up in my inbox. 'Panic' starts out with a chaotic bassline which launches into an instantly likable dance pop dream anthem. win.

[Lifelike] Maybe its the interesting vocals he is working that make this Lifelike remix fresh and different than previous material. Very catchy and enjoyable.

[Russ Chimes] The first time I heard this, I was running out the door. I was halted and couldn't tear myself away from my headphones. Once the first break hit, everything else was put on hold (It's such an epic mix).
