A listen through
Toro Y Moi's debut single 'Blessa' is like jumping into a dream in which you can breathe underwater. The mind conjures up foamy green and blue colors as your body begins to feel weightless. I'm not going to ask you to find your cave or spirit animal, but you get the gist. It's relaxing.
Chaz Bundick is the sound of
Toro Y Moi which 'started in 2001 as a bedroom project but quickly grew into the live performance realm.' Influences range from several different genres including freak folk, r&b and french house.
If you were caught up in the chill wave that surfaced last year then you'll be happy to hear new and solid material for the genre from this producer.
I imagine Elton John, Washed Out, Daft Punk and Flying Lotus all arriving at the same house party and Chaz is there watching from the sidelines. Later that night he goes home and creates to the best of his recollection the memory of that event. The end result being 'Causers of This'
