Romborama Coverage

The gun fires and...

They're off!

With a steady blend of precision pace and accuracy the bloggers, aware of their competition, must act quickly to put together a post. From a list of roughly eight or so new tracks, the blogger must then select the best option. Shit. Somebody already posted that one...ok well what's left?

The blogger must then post a track that is new and untouched; then write from a perspective of someone who has actually taken the time to thoroughly listen to the whole album (even though he has only skimmed through each track to find the best one).

The blogger could post an updated version or "Album Version" of one of the oldies but...No. Too risky.

Cursing at whatever file sharing provider he uses, he waits impatiently as it slowly uploads his three day trip to stardom.

The blogger trys to remain calm (despite the blaring music in his ears).

The song is finally uploaded. Some swift copy / paste action is executed. The album art is uploaded to a new hosting site to hide his tracks. He still has to think of something clever to go with the post so he doesn't come off as some ass hole who just posts images and mp3s. How about, "Theolonius is a strong ....

Uh....

"Theolonius is a strong piece that ...

fuckkkkkkkk

"Theolonius sounds like it could be a hidden track off of Prodigy's Fat of the Land album"

Decent, but I think people might be catching on to the fact that Fat of the Land is the only Dance album from the ninties you truly listened to...

Now the blogger waits as his track, fingers crossed, rises to the top; complete with page refreshing and twitter updates every now and then.

When every promotional gimmick has been expended (facebook, twitter, word of mouth, texts even), the blogger just sits back and waits for the awkward cease and desist email.

nightology (death to the throne remix)

Epic nightmare trash music.
$ Spencer Product - Nightology (death to the throne remix)

Simian Mobile Disco - Audacity of Huge

The SMD Audacity of Huge package comes with several mixes, all equally as spacy, drawn out and often as boring as the next. Majority of the mixers use 5% of the ridiculous lyrics.

$ Simian Mobile Disco - Audacity Of Huge (SMD Space Cave Version)
$ Simian Mobile Disco - Audacity Of Huge (Dekker & Johan Remix)

Bonus:
$ Yuksek - So Far Away From The Sea (The Twelves Remix)

Mr Oizo - LOTUS SUITE KOLN

oizo3000: GIFT OF THE DAY : stupid unreleased track recorded in 2003 in a hotel room. enjoy!

I'm a decent Oizo fan. For those of you who would say he's brilliant, here's a little something (pretty nice for a joke track).

Fatboy Slim's Dance Bitch

I took a listen to Fatboy Slim's "Dance Bitch" compilation and was surprised at how many names I was familiar with in the mix. Opening with Fake Blood and moving on down to Crookers, Santigold, Chromeo etc.

Good to know Slim is still keen on whats surfacing with the new generation of dance.

Check out a head exploding banger by Aquasky and a new rendition of the best Gorillaz track, "Dare"

1. Fake Blood – Blood Splashing
2. Kidda – Under The Sun (Herve’s Aint No Sunshine Mix)
3. John Aquaviva – First Stroke
4. The Chemical Brothers – Hey Boy, Hey Girl (Soulwax Remix)
5. Crookers – Knobbers
6. The Bpa – He’s Frank (Washing Up)
7. Santogold – Lights Out (Herve Remix)
8. Herve – Cheap Thrills
9. Aquasky – It Will Know You Out

10. The Bpa – Seattle (Azzido Da Bass Remix)
11. X-press 2 – Lazy
12. Hardfloor – Acperience 1

Bag Raiders - Shooting Stars (Video)

I put together a mash between Chromeo and Bag Raiders a while back. It surfaced somehow as a Bag Raiders remix of Chromeo's "Call Me Up". Lies.

Dragonette - Fixin to Thrill (Villains Remix)

Whether they're turning pop songs sinister or adding grit to a choice catalog of indie singles, Villains (duo based in L.A) continue to produce solid hyper funk bangers.

When N.A.S.A first exploded, everyone worked on their remix of "Whatchyadoin" and I have to say, Villain's remix of that single is straight perfection. (When spun at a club, it will turn a perfectly normal dance floor into an anamalistic dry hump fest in seconds).

Their latest work has them teamed up with Dragonette on "Fixin to Thrill".

Back in Action

Feels like it's been forever since I had a sufficient stream of music to throw out there.

bam:

I'm not too familiar with Atlas Sound, but people have been saying this track is just a Person Pitch tribute single. If so, it's very well executed

$ Atlas Sound - Walkabout (ft. Noah Lennox)

I have been holding back on Hey Champ. After letting "Cold Dust Girl" sink in, I was ready for more. That's exactly when The Sounds' team sent over this insanely great remix by Hey Champ.

$ The Sounds - Beatbox (Hey Champ Remix)

Chromeo's new single? Sort of...it's a cover of an Eagles song. Ubbs said it best.

$ Chromeo - I Can't Tell You Why

A formidable sequel to Dance Wiv Me, "Holiday" has Dizzee back in his now normal environment (surrended by huge ravy synths). I love it. Anybody got a high quality version?

$ Dizzee Rascal ft. Chrome - Holday (prod. Calvin Harris)

The new Knocks remix is remeniscent of early Justice remixes. Simple fun summer stuff:

$ Wale ft. Lady Gaga - Chillin' (the Knocks Remix)

MYSTERY BOX!
$ Magical Mystery Meme Track!!!!!

Vinyl Life will be compared to LMFAO for similar vocals, but I enjoy the instrumentals much more than other white boy old school electro stuff out there. "Hi Tops" is so good. So 80s. So, "Go Ninja Go Ninja Go"

$ Vinyl Life - Hi Tops <-- dont miss!

Classixx have been killing it! Now having found a solid sound for themselves (with every song transporting you to some remote beach that is ALWAYS sporting a beautiful sunset), its fun to watch what they come out with next.

$ Holy Ghost! - I Will Come Back (Classixx Remix)

Another big club tune. Whether you're a Cudi fan or not, this one will get your feet moving and fingers snappin.

$ Sharam ft. Kid Cudi - She Came Along (Extended Club)

Remember this one? It was pretty popular when the King of Pop passed away. Funkanomics gave the Hood's track a small makeover, pushing the bass boost up.

$ The Hood Internet - Billie Wildcat Jean (Funkanomics)

Ahhh so they're Van She Tech again? Awesome. This mix makes up for any hard feelings I had for previous Van She collaborations. "Great Job!"

$ Dan the Automator - Rapper's Delight (Van She Tech)

Sweat It Out label is back with a new artist, "Pablo Calamari". I was instantly hype when I saw that DCUP was among the first to remix the single. The sax does get repetative...

$ Pablo Calamari - I Bought My Wife On The Black Market (DCUP mix)

For those who need all tracks associated with Santigold, here's a new collaboration. A pretty heavy Larry Tee production with a bassline that makes me wonder Where My Head's At.

$ Larry Tee & Princess Superstar - Licky (Blogula Re-Edit feat. Santigold)

Emil & Friends. These darlings of the blog world have quickly risen to fame with remixes of Little Boots and Passion Pit. Here's they're latest single. Don't miss it.

$ Emil & Friends - Up to Speed

I never looked very hard into Miami Horror. Turns out I missed the premier of one of the best singles, "Make You Mine" (off the Bravado EP). Lucky I have Fred Falke re-invent the track.

$ Miami Horror - Make You Mine (Fred Falke Remix)

Fred Falke puts his signature spacy epic synth groove on the mix. Cassian emphasizes the funky nature of the original.

$ Miami Horror - Make You Mine (Cassian Remix)

New Kid Sister! I can hardly wait. Especially if this is any indicator of what the rest of the album, "Ultraviolet" will sound like.

$ Kid Sister - Right Hand Hi

Housse De Racket - Synthetiseur (The Teenagers Remix)

Round three for Housse De Racket promotion has started.

In round one they remixed themselves. For round two they got the remix treatment from Van She and now they've teamed up with the dreamy French dance sounds of The Teenagers.

Dodos - Time to Die

Set for September 15th release, "Time to Die" is a rich followup to the acclaimed "Visitors" released in 2008 which somehow escaped many end of the year lists.

Summoning the powers of XTC and younger Animal Collective "Two Medicines" is one of the strongest tracks off of the new album.

Synthetiseur (Van She Remix)

I'm on the fence with this one. It's alright....
First off, getting a Van She mix in the mail is like Christmas come early. I follow Van She with stalker like precision, having built up immense adoration for their work with Klaxons, Feist, Das Pop, The Presets, Sneaky Soundsystem (etc).

After the so-so Ze remixes, I feel like Van She had a lot to prove to their loyal audience. This remix is nice, but not very memorable (leaning heavily on unchanging repetition and a safe by the book build up and break down). The feel of a Van She mix is there, but I would still consider their work with Groove Armada's 'Drop the Tough' to be the last really good dynamic Van She remix.

As for emerging Housse de Racket (who really deserve the most focus here) their single has sparked the attention of listeners worldwide and the promoting crew have cleverly pushed the energetic appeal of the Housse de Racket live show.

Check out the full version of the live Housse video which was previously floating around in the form of a teaser.
