The Jackson 5 vs the Knocks

The Knocks are fresh out of the studio with a crisp new Jackson 5 mix. Its the sort of music you'd hear accompanying a joyous cola beverage commercial (complete with swirling colors and people of all elasticities dancing in the street).

Britain FTW

Ernold Sane and DJ Barletta have met up to create an unstoppable justice league of MAD BEATS. I had been talking with Mr. Sane in eager anticipation for his next remix, which you can find below as well as three even newer remixes of famous British artists you may know and love.

[Bonus]: The last remix posted below is the one I've been excited to post entitled, "Rockin' with the Best". It has nothing to do with Britain, but its new and more than noteworthy.

Hello From Toronto

Spiral Into the Storm is a Toronto based artist with a great love for Friendly Fires, "I absolutely could not resist remixing their latest Kiss Of Life single" and a great ability to transform pop singles into long sprawling epics. Enjoy this lush reinterpretation the vibrant Friendly Fires single.

Also (partly) from Toronto, What Kind of Breeze Do You Blow are back with this new mix of the much loved breakthrough act, The XX. I've yet to figure out the buzz surrounding the XX but I've always enjoyed the WKOBDYB productions. WKOBDYB also put out a mixtape not too long ago, that has some choice tunes for you to enjoy:

The Illest

[A] Check out this monster mix of the new Phantom's Revenge Single by FutureFlashs. Let it wash over you and evolve in your headphones until you're neck deep into the sound, thinking to yourself "Oh. Oh this is good".

[B] Then if you'll follow me to the next room we have one of the remixes featured on the new Oh Shit! E.P, titled, "The Illest" (remixed by Joman). In this mix we have your standard electro hip hop killer on the dance floor track that is certain to fulfill your grimy 'gottadancedirty' desires. Seriously good stuff.

[C] Lastly we have another Redlight remix shortly following his Beyonce production. This time RL lays some dirty bass on top of one of the best Vampire Weekend tunes (complete with some stellar vocal cut ups and crowd pleasing breakdowns). Enjoy:

Cassius vs Don Diablo

French house legends, Cassius have released the first remix off the "Youth, Speed, Trouble, Cigarettes" E.P (out Nov. 5 on Cassius Recs) with a brand new remix by Don Diablo.

The rapid acceleration with which Don Diablo has risen to the pinnacle of blog success was received with an equal amount of criticism.

I assure you that this latest mix will gain notoriety only for its quality. If you ever had beef with Mr. Diablo, take a listen to this instant funk classic and you will fall in love.

[Bonus] new artist, square8 puts an impressive and innovative new sound to the much remixed "Might Like You Better"

Mustard Pimp - Cherry (Remix)

There's no mistaking the quality of the newly released floor filler by rising stars (newly ranked amongst the Dim Mak family), Mustard Pimp.

The mix starts out with some standard breaks and beats while slowly, almost as if creeping up behind you, an anthem-like synth track presents itself.

The hypnotic melody draws you in with a climactic buildup that has you itching for the bass to drop. And when it does, you go a little insane.

Dave Wrangler: Notorious

From the opening loop that draws you in to the jaw dropping bassline that knocks you off you feet, I present to you one of this years best remixes mashups.

Its like Dave Wrangler found the ghost of Biggy and had him rap over some instrumental that Busta or Missy wish they had thought of first:

[note] I had originally thought that Dave Wrangler made the beat but the instrumental is taken from the new Dirty Money single called "Love Come Down". I still like this mashup better than the Dirty Money original.

Crookers vs BeatauCue

BeatauCue return shortly after success with their Pon De Floor remix presenting a new collaboration with legendary Crookers.

I wasn't too psyched about the new Crookers single but BeatauCue have stripped away some of the awkward vocals to reveal a more approachable reggaeton banger version. It's a must have for those who thrive on deep echoing basslines.

<3 Tiga

What a wonderful character Tiga is. One can't help but be charmed by his animated aristocratic nature. Here's his facebook page bio:

"Thank you for allowing me to share in your wonderful Book of Faces. I like to think of the Internet as a tiny mutant-man with flesh the texture of brain tissue. And now I am here to lead you in prodding him ever forward, me with my Cat O’ Nine Vibes, and you with whatever cache you manage to derive from associating with me.

This is the official Tiga Facebook group. It cost me a great deal of my dignity to acquire.
Think of yourselves as zoo animals and this group as a food pellet dispenser. And imagine that I run a pellet dispenser business. And that each of the pellets is seasoned with information. Tiga Information."

3 For Wednesday

How ARE you?

I have a few choice tracks to share with you this evening including some remixery of Filthy Dukes by the new and promising Cassette Rock producers.

Also on the list is a mix of Beyonce's latest single, "Control" by Redlight. Nice timing on this Beyonce remix, Redlight...almost too nice... >.>

And then of course you have this Rifo/Ridha/Alkan track that's been floating around which I'll post not just for the hits (but those too of course) but mainly because I support Sir Bob. The remix is well done, although it does remind me too much of Cartal's "Skeleton" in the beginning.

Pon De Floor Remixes

The minimal jungle banger essence of Pon De Floor leaves plenty of room for producers to inject their own flavor. Amongst a giant wave of remixes, the Chewy Chocolate Cookies version stands out with a climactic coked out breakdown.

Among other notables is BeatauCue's mix which has been given support by the likes of "Crookers, Sinden, Major Lazer, Djedjotronic" etc. The BeatauCue remix is not my fav, but I trust the previously mentioned Dj's to know what's up.

Boys Noize vs John Roman

Mr. Roman is back on the grind with this new rendition of Boys Noize' soon to be single, "Kontact Me". It was only a matter of time before producers started toying with the promo leak of "Schnitzel", and this one by John Roman is my favorite so far.

I'm surprised nobody has played around with any of the other songs off the album; "Transition" being my favorite.

Au Revoir Simone vs Neon Indian

NN is quickly becoming a mirror site for all the glory that can be had over at Binary (all in the name of good promotion) I couldn't NOT pass this one your way:

What we have for you today is a collaboration composed of the coolest of the cool kids right now, Neon Indian and Au Revoir Simone.

The remix is a lofi dance pop anthem composed of fluttering flutes and warping arpeggiated synths that is sure to keep you happy in the long run.

Felix Cartal - Drone (complete with artwork by ikea)

With a simple kick drum and a swarming bass line, Felix Cartal crafts his latest symphony, "Drone". There's enough breathing room and melody in this intelligent banger to ensure its place as a staple in set lists worldwide.

What others have to say:

”Unique, well produced, and cutting edge. A breath of fresh air from the majority of ‘electro’ music being released right now.” - Wolfgang Gartner

“This track definitely brings a big vibe and good pay off. We’ll definitely be supporting this!” - Daniel Linton of LA Riots

“Drone is big!!!!! really gone off everytime i played it! breakdown is epic too!!” - Foamo

Baxter + Lifelike

After exploring some new territory with my favorite new label, "Binary" I found this recently released gem.

I couldn't say it better than their own promo:

"this seems like a true return to form for Lifelike. I'm sure if you're banging out 2-3 remixes a month for all sorts of clients it takes its toll on an artists ability to stay creative and innovative, but here's an example of a great artist getting inspired and making just a great song."

more info on the songs meaning here

$ Baxter - Proof (Lifelike Remix)

Keenhouse - Civic Transit

What are you supposed to do when you open up your inbox and Binary gives you this music. I had never heard Civic Transit; I had heard the name "Keenhouse" a few times in passing, probably referenced at Discodust or something

Might as well buy a "Life Is Good" tee.

The single was released last year (I'm upset I missed this one). It combines all of the purest elements of the decade we love, resulting in something that sounds like it'd be used in an educational video for kids.

Keyboard sax trills, warm synths and a froggy bass are supported by a simple beat that doesn't overwhelm the flow.

What makes this single new is that its release is acompanied by remixes from the upandcoming Anoraak (smooth & dreamy) and Fabian (punchy workout disco).

Thanks again Binary for making blogging so easy. I almost feel dirty for posting such quality songs at a quality bitrate for free but they said it was all good so here you go:

The Promo Post

So here comes the Promo Post, where I have an item of social relevance that I just purchased which is laid out on a beige carpet to have its picture taken.

This simple action has many advantageous outcomes:

a.) it gives the appearance that I buy all my music and am a TRUE supporter of the scene

b.) it shows that I'm just a normal person with beige carpeting which helps readers feel like they know me (look, there's my shadow in the pic!)

c.) it's possible that labels will see this post and send me a bunch of free stuff, which I can take more pics of

d.) you get to be that one guy in the comment thread who says "Well I, for one still buy music!"

------heres where I get serious----------

All that aside, I have to say the show tonight with French Horn Rebellion and Database was a lot of fun and I was happy to throw my five dollars their way. Hopefully someone will do the same for me If I ever get serious about making tunes.

Special thanks to Mr Hobbs for getting the guys out to the Ville.

BUY BUY BUY BUY BUY!!!!

Good Morning Good Night

Had a nice chat with the GMGN boys; always nice to get to know your artists personally. These kids are deep into the electro funk vibe as well as the DIY vibe.

With crisp production value and digital nostalgic charm, I present to you "On My Mind", my new favorite dance anthem:
